Pursue 812

Be the Church. Love Your City.

This October, we’re taking Pursue 812 in a new direction. Rather than simply creating opportunities for people to serve, we’re challenging our entire church to look around, notice the needs God has already placed around us, and do something about them.

For four weeks, we’ll walk through four simple steps.

1. SEE THE NEED
Who do you know?
We’ll start by looking at the people already in our lives who may be going through a difficult season—a single mom, an elderly neighbor, a struggling family, a coworker, a friend, or anyone who could use a little extra help.

2. MAKE THE CONNECTION
Reach out.
Once we recognize a need, we’ll take the next step and connect with that person. We’ll provide Pursue 812 cards that can be given to people who could benefit from practical help. Through partnerships with local businesses, we’ll be able to provide free haircuts, lawn care, and basic car care to people in our community who need it.

3. REMOVE THE BARRIER
Help them receive it.
Sometimes simply offering help isn't enough. Maybe someone needs a ride, help completing a form, assistance scheduling an appointment, or simply someone to walk alongside them. We’ll challenge ourselves to ask, “What’s keeping this person from receiving the help they need, and how can I help remove that barrier?”

4. BE THE CHURCH
Use what God has put in your hands.
The final step takes Pursue 812 beyond the services we’ve organized. We’re asking everyone to find their own opportunity to love someone in our city.

Maybe you have time to give, a skill you can use, a neighbor you can help, a resource you can share, or simply the willingness to show up for someone who needs you. You don’t have to wait for the church to allow you to serve. Look around you. Who needs what you have?
